How Teams Are Formed

4U  – Team Requests and Friend Requests are honored provided there is room on the roster. Typically, we do not make team assignments for new 4U teams until the completion of registration. This is to give all players a fair chance at getting on the team of their choice or play with a friend if possible. Typically, only coach’s kids are placed on the roster prior to the completion of registration. If you are coaching a 4U team and your son/daughter has a different last name, you may want to contact the 4U Director and let them know, so we can add that player.

5U and 6U (T-ball) – Team Requests and Friend Requests are honored provided there is room on the roster. If a player registers and requests to play on a specific team, we will first determine if that player has played on that team in either of the two previous seasons. (Spring or Fall). If the player played on that team the previous season, they will be placed on your roster prior to the completion of registration. Since there is no way to know how many Spring returners you will have, we only assign Spring returners during the registration process. Once registration is complete and late registration begins, the fall returners will be added to your roster.  If there are still openings on your roster, the league will assign the remainder of your roster by friend requests, team requests, and finally players with no team preference.

8U - 14U –  If a player registers and requests to play on a specific team, we will first determine if that player has played on that team in either of the two previous seasons. (Spring or Fall). If the player played on that team in the previous Spring season, they will be placed on your roster prior to the completion of registration. Since there is no way to know how many Spring returners you will have, we only assign Spring returners during the registration process.  Once registration is complete and late registration begins, the fall returners will be added to your roster in the order in which they were drafted in the fall season, if there are still openings on your roster. In the event that you have more fall returners then roster spots available, the remaining players will be placed back in the draft. Once the fall returners are added to your roster and you still have roster spots available, your remaining players will be picked up in the draft.  For example, if you have a total of 8 returning players after spring and fall returners are placed on your roster, you will not have a pick in the draft until the 9th round.

If you are a new team to the league (i.e. you and your child starting a new team), you can begin a team with a maximum of 3 players (14U can bring in a full team roster USSSA Double AA and below).  Please notify the league of what players you want assigned to your team prior to the draft so those players can be locked to your roster.

Who should I contact, if I have a question about a player? Please contact your League Director or email wbsaboard@gmail.com

4U (Pee-wee) – Team Requests and Friend Requests are honored provided there is room on the roster. Typically, we do not make team assignments for new Pee-Wee teams until the completion of registration. This is to give all players a fair chance at getting on the team of their choice or play with a friend if possible. Typically, only coach’s kids are placed on the roster prior to the completion of registration. If you are coaching a pee-wee team and your son/daughter has a different last name, you may want to contact the Pee Wee Director and let them know, so we can add that player. You can validate who has been assigned to your team by accessing the Official Roster detailed above. If you played Pee Wee last season and you are returning to PeeWee, then your players from the previous season will be added to your roster during the registration process and then your roster will be filled out with the remaining players, by friend requests, team request and finally with players with no team preferences.

5U and 6U (T-ball) – Team Requests and Friend Requests are honored provided there is room on the roster. If a player registers and requests to play on a specific team, we will first determine if that player has played on that team in either of the two previous seasons. (Spring 2016 or Fall 2015). If the player played on that team in Spring 2015 season, they will be placed on your roster prior to the completion of registration. If you are a new team to the league (i.e. you and your child starting a new team), you can select up to two assistant coaches for your team and their children will be placed on your roster as well. You will need to contact the Tee Ball director with the names of the assistant coaches and the names of their child so the league can add them to your roster, prior to the completion of your rosters.  The assistant coaches must be registered as an assistant coach on your team prior to their child being placed on your roster. PLEASE READ THE CAUTION BELOW about returning players.

7U - 14U – Team Requests and Friend Requests are not honored by the league. At the time of the draft, it is up to the coaches to honor these requests. If a player registers and requests to play on a specific team, we will first determine if that player has played on that team in either of the two previous seasons. (Spring 2016 or Fall 2015). If the player played on that team in the Spring of 2015, they will be placed on your roster prior to the completion of registration. Since there is no way to know how many Spring returners you will have, we only assign Spring returners during the registration process.  Once registration is complete and late registration begins, the fall returners will be added to your roster in the order in which they were drafted in the fall season, if there are still openings on your roster.  16U - For the 16U division, you are allowed to bring your own team as long as they are within the age guidelines and are registered as a player in our league.  There is no draft for this division.

Who should I contact, if I have a question about a player? During the registration period, as you review your “request list” and see players that were on your previous spring team, but not appearing on your official roster, you can contact your league director and request them to validate the player and request to the league to move him/her to your official roster. Please don’t over-use this process, however. This is a manual process and the league is actively adding players to rosters as new registrations come in, so be patient with us. We make every effort to get all of the returners identified and added to your rosters in a timely manner.
