What do I need to purchase?

Your registration fees include a cap and jersey (Spring season only).  The balance of your registration fee is used to pay for baseballs, umpires, field supplies, trophies (Spring season only), insurance, and field use and maintenance fees.

The items you may need to buy (if you don’t already have them) are:

  • A Glove

  • Shoes - sneakers are OK but rubber baseball cleats are recommended

  • Pants -  Your coach will let you know what color pants you will need at the first practice.

  • Bat - A bat is optional,  and in most cases it is better to wait and talk to your coach so they can recommend a proper size.

Do we have to go through Try-outs?

There is a player evaluation that will be performed for players in the Minor league and above. This evaluation is performed to ensure kids are placed in the league appropriate for their age and skill level. Players in the Pee-Wee, T-Ball and Coach Pitch league are not required to attend an evaluation session.

Can my child play up a league?

While it is possible to have a child play in a higher league, it is strongly discouraged. Even players who are at the top of the talent pool for their current age group usually find it difficult to compete at the next level when advancing early. We strongly encourage you to discuss the situation with one of our board members when making the decision to move your child up early.

To move up early a player must meet all the requirements below.

  • Player must be no more than 12 months under the required age for the league they wish to move up to.
  • Players must have competed in at least 1 season in the league for which their age qualifies them for.
  • Players wishing to move into the Minor, Major or Junior leagues must attend a player evaluation session and identify themselves as a waiver candidate.
  • Parents/Guardian must complete a waiver form and present this along with the registration form when registering.
  • Waiver candidates cannot register online due to the additional paperwork and MUST attend one of our registration sessions in person.

Can my child play down a league?

Yes. In certain situations it is possible for a player to be placed in a league which is younger than what their age would normally qualify them for. If it is determined to be in the best interest of the player to participate in a younger league, WBA will make the necessary adjustments in order to accommodate this. For more information, please contact a WBA board member or email wba.registrar@verizon.net.
